Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. is an international service organization that was founded on the campus of Howard University in 1908. It is the oldest Greek-Letter Organization established by college-educated, African-American women. With presently over 100 members, The Sigma Omega Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. has been serving Douglasville, GA (and Douglas County) since 1990. Through the years, the organization has provided thousands of dollars in scholarships to local students, mentored children, partnered with local organizations and schools, established a food pantry, and has provided free training sessions, resources, supplies and health screenings to community members. The mission of the organization is to be of service to all mankind. Additionally, the philanthropic arm of Sigma Omega Omega is the Legacy of Pearls Foundation, Inc.
